All snowmobile operators born after July 1, 1983, who are 12 years of age and older, are required by law to take and pass an approved snowmobile safety course before operating on the VAST Trails. “Today’s Snowmobile Rider in Vermont” snowmobile safety course is available in a classroom setting. The online version is available here. Children under 12 are not permitted to take the online version.
***Admission Fee: Two non perishable food items we will donate to the food shelf.***
IMPORTANT -It was previously stated that children between the ages of 8 and 12 could take the course, but would not be certified. They would have to take it again when they turned 12. That is no longer the case. Children above the age of 8 can now receive their snowmobile safety education card upon successful completion of the course.
It should also be noted that as before, children between 8 and 12 are not required to take the course to ride on the VAST trails, however it is highly recommended.
Priority will be given to students ages 12 and over since they are required to take the course. This course is open to anyone of any age.
Lunch will be provided by sponsors and the Orleans County Snowmobile Assn. and will most likely be pizza. Students are welcome to bring their own lunch but will not be able to leave for lunch unless accompanied by a parent.
