C O M L A N D A I R V T . C O M Topsham Ridge Runners We are so happy that fall is here! We need tons of fluffy white stuff, smooth trails and a long winter and lots of wonderful, safe riding. After last winter and the southern summer we just suffered, I hope Mother Nature is good to us. I kind of think she owes us some snow. We have been working so hard to get our trails open and ready to ride. It has been a summer of obstacles. We lost our new store trail, but with the hard work of many volunteer workers and awesome generosity of some new and some previous landowners, we are happy to report we were able to open a new, old store trail. It will still need work, but it will get us to the Waits River Store safely for this year. As we all know, we can only accomplish so much before the season is upon us. So, please follow the signs and proceed carefully. We are also proud to tell you that with very generous help from VAST we will be building a new, wider safer bridge in Marsh Hollow on the 302B trail. Bill Ricker and his workers will do a phenomenal job for us as they always do. Thanks for your patience while we sort it all out. Thanks to our club members as well who will be doing the decking and new safety rails. But all of this didn’t come about without much frustration. With help and support from Matt Tetreault we were able to sort it out and will be building a terrific bridge. Thanks Matt, you and all the VAST staff are the very best. In August, as we told you in the last issue, our club held the First Annual Landowner and Business Owner Appreciation Picnic. We wanted to thank all of those who help us sell TMAs and landowners who allow us the privilege to travel across their land. We are happy to report that for a first try, we did a bang up job. Everyone went home full and seemed very appreciated. Many thanks to the folks at the Thompson Hill Campground for such a great job. The food was delicious and the facilities were just wonderful. Hopefully next years picnic will be bigger and better. We give a huge thank you to the people who helped to make the picnic a great success. Club President Mat Powers and I would like to thank VAST for the honor of receiving the VAST Trail Administrators Award for Effort on trail work. This award was given out at the VAST Annual Meeting. It is a real honor for two new officers who sometimes wonder if we really know what we are doing. We love what we do and hope to be able to continue for a long time to come. We want to say that without the help and full support of many awesome people in our club, we wouldn’t be able to accomplish any of what we do. We are accepting the awards for all of our hard working members. After all, we are a team. Bunnie Caruso, Secretary, Media Manager www.topshamridgerunnersvt.org Like us on Facebook
