With the on again, off again winter last year, we still had good trails and snowmobiling. We are doing the planning and scheduling for debrushing , trail work and bridge repairs. Let’s all dream big snow! Ernie Dematties, Media Manager Like us on Facebook The Poultney Valley Snowmobile Devils held their 45th Annual Pancake Breakfast on Feb. 4. Shrewsbury Sno-Birds As I sit here writing this, our outside thermometer is at 99.1 degrees. What a heat wave! Boy, I like winter better! We have all of our projects in for approval to VAST and are waiting state approval on one of their projects. The one construction will help on a steep area and one bridge really needs decking. We will also do our share of debrushing so everyone has a nice ride. Our big news is that we had a change in our leadership. Rick Lees retired as president and Mike Stewart is the new president. Rick was president for 17 years and he guided us though some tough times early on and the good times from then on. He has MS so his outdoor activities are getting more and more limited. He was always at the meetings locally, club and and the VAST Annual and for the most part the VAST construction seminars. Back when we had the grass drags in Fair Haven and the other fundraiser with our cook trailer, Rick and his wife Annie were always there with their smiles and help. We always have a lot of laughs with them! We hope that he comes to some meetings as we like his company. Mike has been a member of the club for many years also. He also helped us in our tough times, especially financially when we lost some funds. He did not hesitate to help us. He has been a director on our board since that time. He is a local guy and owns JC Stewart and Son Ford in Cuttingsville. The family has been there forever. He rides all over Vermont and makes some trips to Canada also. He is active with trail projects when possible. He is starting to go to the county meetings like Rick did and is really getting an insight as to what goes on at that level, and will be a big asset to the county and club. He is great at that type of thing, as he was on the select board Rick Lees hands over the reins of president of the Shrewsbury Sno-Birds to Mike Stewart.
