36 | Snowmobile VERMONT Club News WINDSOR COUNTY WINDHAM COUNTY in Shrewsbury for several years. We really welcome Mike to that position and want to thank Rick for all the years of service to the Shrewsbury Sno-Birds! I hope everyone has a safe and fun summer, but maybe not so hot? Think cool snow! Roy Arthur, Vice President & Trailmaster Shrewsburysnobirds.org Like us on Facebook Vernon Trail Breakers This past snowmobile season has many lasting memories, even if it’s 90 outside as I write this piece! With a see-saw season here in the Banana Belt, we managed to ride all season long by trailering, like most folks do, to where the snow is. Local folks are kind of spoiled as we’ve become accustomed to riding right out of our yards and onto the trails. But as you all know the winters have been very fickle and if you want to use your sled, it’s time to trailer. It’s always fun to see different areas and unfamiliar trails and each ride can offer some stunning scenery if you are riding at a reasonable speed! So now summer is upon us and I have to confess, it is one of my favorite times of the year. It is time to hit the lakes and rivers for fishing and water skiing. Kids play a big part in our lives and they love all the adventure of all the seasons, but they have their favorites too. I guess there’s a kid in all of us and when that first snow arrives, that kid is unleashed and we are more than ready to hit the trails. We have plenty of trail work ahead of us here, brushing, downed trees, bridge repairs and more but it’s ninety degrees outside, the mosquitoes are the size of humming birds and we have a ski boat that needs to be used. While summer is here our priorities change, but you can be assured I’m still thinking Cavendish Green Mountain Snow Fleas For the second year we are excited to announce we will be raffling off a snowmobile this fall as a fundraiser for our barn building fund. This year’s snowmobile is a 2019 Polaris INDY EVO ES. Tickets are $50 with a limit of 200 tickets being sold. Tickets go on sale in September. The winning ticket will be drawn Thanksgiving weekend, as long as all 200 tickets have been sold. The winner need not be present but will need to present their ticket to pick up the sled. Information on where tickets can be purchased will be on our website and Facebook page beginning in August. We hope everyone is enjoying their summer and the warm weather we had in July. Karen Marini, Secretary cavendishsnowfleas.com Like us on Facebook Chester Snowmobile Club Summer is here and while we have moved on to yard work, playing golf, riding motorcycles and other outdoor activities, for many of us, snowmobile season is always on our minds. Our first work day has been scheduled for Sept. 8 with the focus on debrushing. We will be breaking into teams and heading out in many directions to begin the process of clearing trails. The Chester Snowmobile Club wants to thank the many volunteers who helped us with our work projects last season. With the increase of social media we were very fortunate to have more folks get involved in our club activities. Special thanks to Patty Companik for her dedication to snow. Hope everyone has a great summer, and that we all have some terrific snow this coming season. Don Rosinski, President vernontrailbreakers.org Like us on Facebook Jacksonville E-Z Riders This past winter was an interesting season based on the conditions as they presented themselves. We saw our trails open on Dec. 16, but with subzero temps for the first part of the season, it had many of us wanting to ride but the cold weather was a factor in deciding to stay home for many. Once again, our wonderful landowners have provided the beautiful land needed to enjoy this wonderful sport. Like many we will remember the month of May 2018, it was surely a snow month to be remembered. In just 10 days during March the area received over 100 inches of snow and the riding conditions could have not been more favorable. We would like to thank all our groomers and volunteers for the countless hours they spent making our trails awesome for all to enjoy. We hope everyone is enjoying the summer and as always, come fall, it will be time again to do the needed work to get the trails open in time for the upcoming season. We are always looking for volunteers to help with many tasks that are part of the clubs duties to keep our trails open and maintained. Have a great summer and we hope to see everyone soon on the trails. An E-Z Rider ezriders.org Like us on Facebook
